Geoffrey and Wendy purchased Carr Portrait Studios in 1988. We changed our name in 1990 to help us define our own personal direction.
Geoffrey freely admits to being a photo nerd, spending hours viewing photos, researching new techniques and lighting styles, the latest digital effects, cameras, lenses, software etc. All in an effort to perfect an artform. Geoffrey says "I was taught early in my photography career to treat every job as the most important job that I will ever do. In this sense, I always strive to do better."
Wendy, a flower gardener when not working for the studio, presents a feminine perspective. Wendy as the second shooter, is the photojournalist, sometimes shooting from afar with a telephoto lens. Wendy says "Weddings can be rehearsed, emotions can not. I aim to capture the emotions of your day."
Together, we offer a nice mix of traditional imagery and photojournalistic artistry. In the studio we use soft, natural light from a large north-facing window. "When at a wedding, again, natural light is always first choice, even indoors. Our low-light lenses allow us to do some pretty amazing photos in dim lighting! Best of all, natural light is very unobtrusive since there is no flash. We use flash only when we have to," says Geoff.
We have produced high-quality, professional wedding images for over 1,500 brides and grooms. We understand the importance of capturing every special moment...your first kiss as husband and wife, that quiet conversation with your Dad just before you walk down the aisle together, your first dance with your new spouse. We will treat you and your family like royalty.
The Portrait Gallery has a staff of 7 photographers. All are very qualified with many years of experience. With multiple photographers, we have ample backup for emergencies. Clients can select a photographer that best matches their style. Solo coverage’s (our most popular) are available from Renee, Thom, Ali, Jay and Sarah. Portfolios are available on our website. You can also hire a two-photographer team. That requires a larger investment, but offers many more photos, angles and variety. The second photographer captures mostly photojournalistic images from afar, while the main photographer captures both candids and posed images. Plus with two photographers, we can be in two places at one time. Geoff and Wendy always go together as a team.
A typical wedding day shoot for you would include 7 hours of coverage. Shorter coverages are also available. All packages come with an unlimited quantity of photos within your coverage.
