Geoffrey and Wendy purchased Carr Portrait Studios in 1988. A name change in 1990 helped us define our own personal direction.

Geoffrey freely admits to being a photo nerd, spending hours viewing photos, researching new techniques and lighting styles, the latest digital effects, cameras, lenses, software etc. All in an effort to perfect an artform. Geoffrey says "I was taught early in my photography career to treat every job as the most important job that I will ever do. In this sense, I always strive to do better."

Wendy, a flower gardener when not working for the studio, presents a feminine perspective. Wendy as the second shooter, is the photojournalist, sometimes shooting from afar with a telephoto lens. Wendy says "weddings can be rehearsed, emotions can not. I aim to capture the emotions of your day."

Together, we offer a nice mix of traditional imagery and photojournalistic artistry. In the studio we use soft natural light from a large north-facing window. " If it was good enough for Rembrandt, then it is good enough for me," says Geoff. "When at a wedding, again, natural light is always first choice, even indoors. Our low-light lenses allow us to do some pretty amazing photos in dim lighting! Best of all, natural light is very unobtrusive since there is no flash. We use flash only when we have to."
